Director of SEND (SENCO)

The Academy has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced teacher with the skills and vision to join our Leadership Team. Applications are invited from Teachers who have:

The successful applicant will be expected to deliver high quality interventions, implement effective systems for tracking and monitoring progress in a highly organised way whilst demonstrating a confidence in decision making. You will be responsible for ensuring pupils with SEN make good progress in line with the schools overall expectations. The main duties are:

• To assist the Principal in the leadership and management of the school in key aspects of school improvement.

• To take full responsibility for leading and managing accelerated progress for all SEN, LAC, PP and EAL pupils

• To be the lead professional ensuring all staff are fully supported

• To carry out teaching duties and model good/outstanding teaching through interventions, in doing so raising both expectations and standards leading to sustainable accelerated progress for all identified children

• To be a role model to all staff and exemplify Teachers Standards and Professionalism

• To undertake annual Performance Management, setting and agreeing targets linked to school development plan and setting priorities with the Principal

The Elizabethan Academy are seeking to recruit a number of enthusiastic Mentors in our core curriculum areas of Maths and Science. The successful candidates will undertake specialist small group or one to one work with students requiring additional support.

We require confident people who can relate well to students and are committed to supporting teaching and learning. Previous classroom experience is preferred but not essential. This post could suit a range of applicants from sixth form students studying maths or science subjects, graduates considering moving on to their PGCE or a former teacher considering a return to the profession.

The appointment will be casual with hours being agreed on an ad hoc basis as required.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Motivation and confidence in the delivery of GCSE Maths and / or Science.
  • A real passion for working with young adults at secondary school age of all abilities.
  • An ability to work with students with learning difficulties or other barriers to their learning.
  • An ability to build rapport and student trust and confidence in the subject.
  • Behaviour Management skills.
  • Effective organisation and communication skills.
  • Will have good communication skills with the ability to work on your own initiative, but also be able to work flexibly as part of a team.
  • The ability to act as a positive role model and set high standards.

Exam Invigilators, Readers and Scribes

Pay: £8.21 per hour (rising in accordance with minimum wage)

The Elizabethan Academy is a successful and popular 11 to 18 comprehensive school with purpose built premises and excellent facilities.

We are currently seeking to recruit Exam Invigilators, Readers and Scribes to assist in the smooth running of GCSE, “A” Level and BTEC exams throughout the academic year, but predominantly during January, March, May, June and November.

The work will entail:

  • Preparing the examinations environment with required resources
  • Monitoring and managing candidate behaviour in line with exam regulations
  • Distributing and collating accurately exam papers and associated materials
  • Supporting the efficient timekeeping of the examination.
  • Supporting students on a one to one basis with reading and scribing, if required.
  • All in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) Regulations and school policies.

Please refer to the Job Description for full information. The role may incorporate any combination of invigilation, reading and scribing as fits the preferences and skill sets of the successful candidates.

Successful applicants will have availability during the school day however, it is possible to offer some flexibility over precise timings. Experience of working in a school environment preferred but not essential as training will be given.

Midday Meals Supervisor

£9.00 / hour / Casual

The Elizabethan Academy in Retford is a successful and popular 11-18 Comprehensive School.  We have excellent purpose-built premises.

We currently wish to appoint new Midday Supervisors to join our team of support staff as soon as possible.  The post will entail:

•           Ensuring a safe and orderly lunchtime for students

•           Supervising dining areas and outside play areas

•           Patrolling corridors

•           Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students

Experience in a similar role would be a distinct advantage.
